Christmas Tree Festival 2019

Thank you to everyone who visited St John’s Church over the weekend of 29th November to 1st December to see the trees at the Christmas Tree Festival.   The church looked beautiful, and nearly £300 was collected, which has been split between the church and The Rendezvous in Sherborne. The businesses, groups and organisations that contributed all put so much creative thought and effort into their decorations, so a huge thank you to them too.

They were: the Bellringers; Bowls Club; Brownies; Charlton Horethorne & Stowell churches; Church Choir; Clockspire Restaurant; Craft Group; First Steps Toddler Group; Football Club; Gainsborough Arms; Goathill Church; History Society; Library; Milborne Port Opera; Milborne Port Primary School; Parish Council; Royal British Legion; Spirit of Milborne Port; Something Else Fishy; Tanners Cafe; Tuesday Lunch Club; Southill Vets; Wayne Pullen Butcher; and the WI.

The trees were sponsored by the Spirit of Milborne Port, so on behalf of all participants, a big thank you to them too.  Over 200 people visited the church over the weekend: children came to the Library’s “Storytime” on the Friday evening before the lights’ switch on at the Weighbridge, and throughout the weekend, visitors enjoyed racking their brains as to which group decorated which tree.  Overall, the tree decorated by the Bellringers was voted as ‘The People’s Favourite’.
