Our Benefice and Churches

We are a community of Christians worshipping in the five rural churches of our benefice, which is on the Somerset/Dorset border and is a wonderful place to live and work. Although we worship in five different places, we are drawing closer in a variety of ways, and we aspire to work together even more closely. In this way we hope to simplify and reduce the administrative workload, to increase our fellowship as a benefice, and to do God’s will more effectively.

Worship is at the heart of everything we do, and we have a thriving worshipping community, with good regular attendance. St John’s church has a strong robed choir and an excellent organist, with a great team of bellringers on its eight bells. St Peter and St Paul’s in Charlton Horethorne also has an eight-bell peal with an enthusiastic team of bellringers as well as a fine organist.

The Benefice is in the Deanery of Bruton and Cary which is in the Diocese of Bath & Wells in the Church of England. For more information including our team and churches please click on the links on the right.
